Auditel, a system to review
"A Special Day, a day without listening data. Tuesday, March 1, for an update of the software are not released data Auditel . Imagine how many professionals have been in fibrillation throughout the day, now addicted share. now listening is the only criterion of justice for those who make TV : not a criterion, albeit important, among other criteria, but the only one. So an alibi; some say the perfect alibi for the murder of good TV. In recent years, technology has made great strides and perhaps Auditel would need a good review from the structure of society itself. As you know, ownership of the company is divided into shares of 33% for the three basic components: public television (RAI), private broadcasters (national and local networks), companies that invest in advertising (UPA) with agencies and media centers (AssoComunicazione, Unicom), the remaining 1% is the Italian Federation of Newspaper Publishers (Fieg). The living costs are borne by RAI and Mediaset, and then we are in the classic Italian situation in which the controllers are also controllati.Il sample of 5,187 families (those who have installed in the house meter, or about 14 thousand people) is statistically a good sample, especially for a traditional television. Auditel, however, does not detect TV out (of the second case), the TV via the web (especially now that young people see) and deferred the hearing (which is a plus in the pay tv). Also at stake is the question of foreigners: the panel of Auditel is formed exclusively by Italian citizens registered to vote, while Caritas data show that now there are about five million foreigners living in Italy. Without going into technical details and complex methodology of the estimate of the audience, a day of silence is beneficial to all: controllers, monitored and controlled. "
